The aim is to have a meal that is predominantly protein or predominantly starch.
If you aim to eat only small quantities of pulses these can be treated as either a starch or a protein meal

hi,
sorry to harp on about the whole 'bean and pea issue'!!
but is there a general overview of all pulses as i call them (that is- beans, peas, pulses, legumes, whatever you want to call them) to classify them as either starch or protein compatible?
are they only really compatible with any meal after they've been sprouted (and do only dried pulses sprout?)
i buy frozen peas (of the green/garden variety) and frozen broad beans, what difference does frozen make?
i buy other pulses tinned (chickpeas, kidney beans, cannellini), i have read that the dried ones need boiling for ages coz of the toxins - what is the difference between tinned and dried, and with which meal should they be eaten?
all lentils i buy dried - what's the deal with them?
feel like if i have to cut down on pulses too much i may lose a very good source of protein and nutrients from my diet.
many thanx

Can you combine baked potatoes with baked bean and baked beans on toast as these are quick easy and filling meals?
