Menopause

The menopause brings many changes to a woman's body, but the hormonal changes with their accompanying mood swings often appear before other signs. As well as the obvious changes brought about by changing levels of the reproductive hormones, serotonin levels in the brain can also change, causing disruption of sleeping patterns and depression and inducing a lack of self confidence. These unexpected and unexplained changes are responsible for the disruption of many lives including broken marriages.

Now some medical studies are showing that the high-starch food-combining diet is able to counteract some of these hormonal changes, including boosting serotonin levels, and so avoid the mood swings that accompany them.

The natural fibre associated with the high natural starch levels of whole-grain rice, whole-meal bread and fresh fruit and vegetables seem to play the most important role in safeguarding both the male and female metabolism from unwanted changes. Refined starches with added fibre do not demonstrate any of these desirable properties.

Is there a special diet I should be on to lose weight when going through menopause. I only need to lose about 4 kilos
