Ride the chairlift up the mountain from Ramsau, then take the branch of path 50 that climbs up the ridge through the hay meadows and woodland to the Gerlosstein Berggasthof. This is a large hotel that is also the top station for the gondola from Hainzenberg.
We turned sharp right here on a track that runs fairly level signposted to Brandberg. Still the number 50. The track later turns into a path. Later the path descends steeply through woodland, with several roots possible down to Brandberg, or onwards to Mayrhofen.
The best flowers were along the high, level section of track, and there were also a couple of mountain huts open for refreshments.
