The Auckland Botanic Gardens main entrance is close to an exit from the main Southern Motorway at Manurewa. These gardens are extensive, with walks extending through native woodland.

It looks well cared for and plants are well labeled.

There are many good collections of plants, well displayed

Roses seem to grow particularly well in New Zealand

The Auckland Botanic Gardens are an excellent starting point to see some of the native New Zealand plants, but these were not always particularly well labelled.

The main paths are well surfaced, so a good destination even on a wet day.
