The Kauri are magnificant trees. These photographs were taken in the Waipoua Forest. There are several short walks to view these trees. Details at the visitor centre.

The Puketi forest also has some excellent stands of kauri walks and a variety of walks, up to two days long.

We found the Puketi Nature Trail signed from the Puketi Recreation Area very interesting, with many native plants labeled.

Board walks protect the tree roots from damage.

The satellite view below is centred on the Waipoua Forest.
