Walking in New Zealand: Matuari Bay

The coastline between Matauri Bay and Whangaroa is beautiful. Matauri Bay is a long stretch of sand.

Their is a steep path up onto the headland from the end of the beach, or an easy path up through the campsite.

The view from the headland out towards the Cavalli Islands

On the headland is the memorial to the Rainbow Warrior, Ship of Peace, sunk by the French.

The fish and chip shop at Mangonuii. A good lunch stop.
