We walked this 9 mile route in wintry weather starting from the large car park at the top of Pork Hill, heading north over the coll between Cox Tor and Great Staple Tor. The path then skirts a large area of tin workings, before crossing enclosed fields at Wedlake. Head up the wet moorland to Stephen' Grave - a small stone marks the spot. Then keep north along the edge of the moor, and follow the path through an alley between walls, before heading west down a narrow lane. This emerges at the small hamlet of Cudlipptown. Head north up the surface lane (miss the field path on your left) and take a narrow lane down to Horndon Bridge, then up a narrow track to Horndon. Note the leat that supplies water to the hydroelectric powerstation. You can take the path right just before the Elephant's Nest, or carry on down the road to take a path left signed over the fields. This takes you down past dissused shafts and a mine chimney to the church at Mary Tavy. Continue south past the small power station, and the footbridge over the River Tavy, on a track that comes out at peter Tavy. There are several paths you can take back up to the moor, but on this occasion we went up past Harragrove and Youlditch, to then contour round over the lane and a clear path back to the car park.
