9 miles

Ribble Head to Hawes via the Dales Way and Pennine Way. This is a linear walk, so you need a vehicle at each end. Parking on roadside just south west of Gearstones, avoids road walk out from Ribble Head. Keep for a bright sunny day as you are walking this for the views, not the immediate scenery! This section of Cam High Road is in need of repair as it has been churned up by offroad vehicles. Follow the Cam High Road until it meets the end of the surfaced road at Cold Keld gate. Turn North onto a track at Kidhow gate, and continue on the Pennine Way right into Hawes.

A day with a reasonable forecast turned into thick mist and driving rain all day! It started to clear as we dropped down the final track.
