52. Ano Valsamonero to Monopari and Malaki Walk and Cycle in Crete

Head south and level on the narrow road through Ano Valsamonero. This broadens slightly as it leaves the village. 2 km. Monopari, a small partly ruined village. See route 53 for directions to the old fortress that is near here. On the south side of Monopari the road takes a long hairpin down into the steep sided valley. 3 km. The road continues south up a series of short steep hairpins onto the limestone plateau. 6 km.
