We booked, by email, directly with the owners of each of the following. They were all clean, tidy, and we received a very warm welcome. Most were luxurious and all were excellent value for money. All expect payment in cash. Glenfalloch, Landing Rd, Keriker

66 State Highway 33, near the junction with highway 30 This is well set back from the main road, with a good parking area. This was the smallest room that we stayed in on this trip, and not en-suit, but there was a sitting area adjoining. Good access to several local walking trails - but you need a car. Owners

Creel Lodge at Turangi
Far more room than we were expecting! A large well equipped living room with kitchen area, two bedrooms and a veranda on the front. These lodges are well spaced out in a secluded garden backing on to the Tongariro river. There is also a shared laundry room
