La Galga. Cave dwellings, tropical fruit and a jungle filled gorge, La Palma Island, Canaries. Circular 9 mile walk

A loop from the main road at La Galga along a path half way down a gorge with caves with doors to the side. Dry, hot and quite spectacular. Then along the coast path briefly before back up through banana, and a wide variety of sub tropical fruit. Some terraces well cultivated but a lot getting overgrown.
The gorge starts with a surfaced road, moist, cool and drizzle for a time. Climbing steadily. The track becomes unsurfaced, and then an old path, quite well engineered. The right turn is well signed to come out onto another track at the top. Climbs very gently back to a viewpoint. We turned right and took a track down from here- very enjoyable gentle descent. Continued on a surfaced road to another viewpoint, then follwed a narrow surfaced road back to the car.
9 miles again. Very enjoyable.
This time driving back found the tunnels that bypass the main town.
Had a good meal out at the local Thai restaurant at La Ola. Chef was Thai.
