Pilar an 8 mile loop through the volcanoes and pine forest. La Palma Island, Canaries pageid = 6433 parentid = 7758
Again an early start. Sunrise through broken cloud. By the time we got to El Pilar the cloud was starting to cover the very top of the caldera view. One hour into the walk and thick mist, then drizzle became heavy rain. Cold.
I decided to head down after the first peak, into more sheltered woodland as rain driving horizontally.
Path back down very attractive, and well signed all the way. A good loop of 8.2 miles but the rain never cleared.
Had a stroll along the prom again in the evening. 22 degrees back here.
Paths today all smooth, mostly gravel. No rough ground. Easy walking.
